The Science and Research Department within the SCP Foundation is responsible for conducting cutting-edge research and experimentation in order to expand our understanding of anomalous phenomena and develop new methods for containing and studying these entities. The department is comprised of highly trained and specialized researchers, engineers, and scientists, all dedicated to advancing the Foundation's mission.

The head of the Science and Research Department, known as the Director, oversees the day-to-day operations of the department, including the allocation of resources, supervision of research projects, and management of personnel. Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring that all research is conducted in accordance with the Foundation's strict ethical guidelines and protocols, and that the findings of their research are accurately documented and disseminated to other departments as necessary.

Other key responsibilities of the Science and Research Department include the development of new containment protocols and procedures, the analysis of anomalous entities and materials, and the design and implementation of advanced technologies and equipment. The department is also responsible for establishing and maintaining partnerships with other organizations and institutions, both within and outside of the Foundation, in order to share knowledge and resources and collaborate on joint research initiatives.
